Park Review: Jim Gilliam Park

Stratus Sports Club

We hear from a lot of customers how hard it can be to pick a location for your event so we’re going to start our series of park reviews with one of our most popular parks, Jim Gilliam.

Named for the Los Angeles Dodger great, it is near the 10 and 405 freeways. It is an excellent all around park with good parking options but it can be tricky to get here on time because it lacks streets signs and there is often construction nearby.

The park is home to a recreation center with basketball courts, tennis courts, baseball fields, soccer fields and excellent parking options. This makes it easy for a group to organize here and there is almost always extra space to setup up tables and chairs for a party. The park is also open to dogs and locals will often bring their dogs to the park to run around and play fetch.

Most likely there is no need for a reservation because of the extra space but it is always good to check with the park administrators who are helpfully onsite seven days a week in the recreation center. The park is also popular with locals who will usually stop and watch part of your game and will often ask questions.

This is one of our favorite parks in Los Angeles because it’s centrally located and always has plenty of space for games of bubble soccer.

If you have any additional questions you can probably find the answer on the park’s official webpage.
