Alternative Games: Sharks and Minnows

Stratus Sports Club

There are plenty of great soccer players out there but how many are great bubblers? We try to find out when we play Sharks and Minnows.

If you didn't play as a child, sharks and minnows is a great playground game where one person starts off as a shark in the middle of the ocean (the field). Each of the minnows starts off on one side of the field and tries to run across the field to the other shore safety without getting caught by the shark. If they make it they survive until the next round when they have to cross the sea again. If they don’t make it they’re transformed into a fearsome Bubble Shark and will spend the rest of the game hunting down the minnows.

Our game has a little twist because we play in Bubble Soccer suits! Rather than just playing tag, a minnow needs to be knocked over and off their feet to become a shark. This means that a dedicated minnow can overpower sharks and run to safety on the other side of the sea.

This game makes for great strategy as sharks build up strength to take on the giant minnows and the minnows can work together to help their friends stay on their feet. Some of our best video footage is from games of Sharks and Minnows and we can’t wait to show it to you during your Los Angeles Bubble Soccer event.
